In this episode…

Doctors, as a group, are some of the most highly trained and well-educated individuals out there. However, being an expert can only get you so far. Sometimes, finding a way to make your expertise truly useful will require you to understand the way other people see things. If you want to be more effective at what you do, learning to be more empathetic and adaptable is a great place to start — regardless of your profession.

For Dr. Scott Cyrus, a patient’s health is the ultimate goal and measure of success. However, as Dr. Cyrus will point out, not everyone shares the same definition of health. Because of that, you need to vary your approach with each individual you work with. It’s not enough just to know how to do something. Physicians also need to acquire the knowledge that will allow them to navigate in a way that serves the needs and wants of their patients.

In this episode of the Measure Success Podcast, Carl J. Cox sits down with Dr. Scott Cyrus to discuss teaching and practicing in the field of pediatrics. Dr. Cyrus explains how he has adapted to the restrictions of the pandemic in both his careers, what he thinks the future of medicine holds, and why he views his patient’s health as the ultimate goal. Plus, Dr. Cyrus shares his favorite advice for approaching life. Stay tuned!
