In this episode…
CEOs are responsible for lots of things throughout a company. It can be easy to get caught up and distracted by the overwhelming amount of endless tasks — especially when your business is growing. How do you determine where to spend your time, so it has the greatest value? What levers should you be pulling to take your company to the next level?
According to expert strategist Simon Severino of Strategy Sprints, the most common mistake CEOs make with their time is when they get off track by doing what they’re good at versus doing what grows the business. He suggests that CEOs can do a lot more for their companies when they stick to only working on high-leverage duties. What’s his solution for all the other tasks? Learn to delegate. Simon also asserts that there are three levers that many companies can use to increase their revenue drastically. However, he cautions that focusing only on revenue can cause health problems for your company if you’re not also paying attention to your profits.
In this episode of the Measure Success Podcast, Carl J. Cox sits down with the CEO and Founder of Strategy Sprints, Simon Severino, to discuss his methods for generating more efficiency in your company and becoming a more effective CEO. So let’s start with the beginning. Of course, tell us a little bit more about your company Strategy Sprints
Simon Severino 3:08
we started Strategy Sprints, because we were fed up with the way CEOs have to book consultants. And we became CEOs ourselves after 17 years of being consultants. And I was like, I’m not gonna book these guys. So something was broken. Why do I not trust my own profession? And then I went deep into that and said, because it’s, it’s not working. They are not designing their offers around the clients need around the entrepreneur. How often does the entrepreneur take decisions? every three weeks in an eight hour workshop? No, we take decisions 15 times 20 times per day. And this is the moment where I need five minutes with my coach. It’s like Spider Man. And he’s guiding the chair, hey, should I kick the left or the right door? And give me a minute. And then it says, kick the left door. This is what we need. And this was missing. I didn’t find it. So I did build it for myself first. And then people started asking for it a cool template on how to do a blue ocean strategy. Can I have it? And this is how we started creating a library of templates. And now we have 274 templates, sales templates, marketing templates, Operation templates. And we are a global company now with with clients from Silicon Valley to Shanghai. But it started with me being a solo founder and not having the right coach that I needed in that moment.
